Ramendranath Datta taught at Asutosh College of the University of Calcutta for more than three decades. As a Selection Grade lecturer and the head of the prestigious English department of the institution he was engaged in teaching a wide range of texts. His predominant research interests focus on Indian English Literature, literary criticism, English poetry. He co-edited C.U.
